A resident of Idaho Falls for 41
years, Jared Fuhriman has volunteered much of his time to a variety of civic boards. Prior to his mayoral election in 2005,
Jared was dedicated to the Idaho Falls Police Department for 18 years. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
Over the past
6 years, Jared has opened lines of communication and created partnerships with other cities, counties and businesses. He has
established committees related to youth, cultural diversity, and higher education, thereby allowing numerous citizens to become
more involved in improving the quality of life in our community.
Jared is a strong advocate for energy issues. He supports
creating a diverse power portfolio for Idaho Falls Power, the City-owned utility, and is dedicated to forming strong relationships
with the Department of Energy, the INL, and private-sector energy industries such as AREVA. He works diligently with local
economic groups to create and enhance job opportunities for our community.
Jared has been married to his wife Karen
for 28 years. They have 7 children and 2 grandchildren. He is a devoted husband and involved father. His personal, professional,
and community experiences have strengthened his appreciation for what people can achieve when they work together. He continues
to be inspired by the commitment of Idaho Falls' citizens.
